Important Note
The standard trekking route might change a bit due to uncontrollable circumstances.
However, there are certain things beyond anyone’s control, such as flight delays or cancellations, unexpected weather changes, limited availability of teahouses or basic accommodation in remote areas, government rule changes, or personal health issues. In such situations, we will do our best to find practical solutions and make necessary adjustments so that your journey can continue with minimal disruption.
We kindly ask for your understanding and flexibility if such circumstances arise. To ensure a smooth start, we recommend arriving in Kathmandu at least a day before the trek begins. This gives you time to rest and prepare, and also allows some buffer in case of any travel delays. It’s also wise to plan for a few extra days in Nepal after the trek, just in case return flights are affected.
If you have time, you’re welcome to customize your experience by adding sightseeing tours in Kathmandu or Pokhara, day trips, or even adventure sports before or after your trek.
Jomsom Flight Update
The main aircraft used for flights in and out of Jomsom is the Twin Otter. These flights are generally reliable, but due to unpredictable mountain weather or occasional technical issues, cancellations do happen. If a flight is canceled, Ama Adventure will arrange alternative ground transportation to keep your journey on track, especially if you’re on a tight schedule for your international departure.
For road travel between Pokhara and Jomsom (in either direction), we use locally available vehicles, most commonly Indian models like the Mahendra Scorpio and Bolero. If the flight gets canceled, the cost of this road transport will be covered using the refund from your flight ticket, after deducting any applicable cancellation fees. Please be aware that there will be no cash refund for the flight if you choose the road transport option instead.

Difficulty Level
The Pisang Peak and Thorong La Pass trek is a demanding adventure that blends high-altitude trekking with a beginner-friendly alpine ascent. Trekkers should be physically fit and capable of hiking 5 to 9 hours a day across rugged, steep terrain. Climbing Pisang Peak involves the use of mountaineering gear like ropes and crampons, but it doesn’t require advanced technical expertise. However, the altitude, especially the 6,091 m summit and the 5,416 m Thorong La Pass, adds to the physical challenge.
Dates & Prices
All listed departures are guaranteed. If these dates don’t work for you, we can arrange a trip that fits your schedule. Just let us know your preferred timing and the kind of journey you’re looking for, and we’ll help you plan a custom trip to your chosen destination.
Meals
During the trek, we’ll enjoy a mix of local Nepali food and popular international dishes such as Tibetan, Continental, Italian, and Indian. Breakfast and dinner will be served at the tea houses or lodge menus where we stay overnight, while lunches will be provided en route to our next destination. During the trek, all meals are included. In Kathmandu, breakfast is provided, and farewell dinner will be arranged for our guests.

In Kathmandu, we will stay at Hotel Manaslu. During the trek, we’ll stay in local teahouses and tent camps. All accommodations are on a twin-sharing basis. A single room can be arranged on request for an extra cost of USD 290. While we’ll book the best available tea houses, please note that the facilities may be quite basic compared to the more developed routes. Single rooms are generally available in Kathmandu, but they might not be possible to find during the trek.
Weather Information
Weather on the Pisang Peak and Thorong La Pass trek varies by season. Spring and autumn offer the best conditions, with clear skies and daytime temperatures between 10 to 15 °C, though nights can get cold, dropping to -10 °C or lower. Winter brings heavy snow and extreme cold, especially above 4,000 m, where temperatures can fall to -25 °C. Conditions at higher elevations can change quickly, so being well-prepared is key.
Important Notes
We give you a free duffel bag and baseball cap during your pre-trip meeting in Kathmandu. The duffel bag will be used to pack your trekking supplies.
For every two participants, we assign one porter. The duffel bag, which should weigh around 10 kg/22 lbs, will be carried by the porter throughout the walk.
To carry your daily necessities like cash, crucial papers, a water bottle or bladder, a camera, toiletries, sunscreen, a notebook, clothing, etc., you must have your own daypack (with a waterproof cover).
You can store your luggage (non-trekking items) at the hotel in Kathmandu.
Total luggage allotment allowance for the Kathmandu-Lukla flight is 15 Kg/33 lbs including both duffel (10 Kg/22 lbs.) and backpack (5 Kg/11 lbs.)
Down jacket with a hood is a must for altitudes above 4,000 m to keep warm. We provide both a down jacket and a sleeping bag, which must be returned after the trek. In case of loss or damage to these items, the reimbursement cost is USD 200 per item.
Note: Some clothing, especially form-fitting, figure-hugging items made of elastic material (like yoga pants), may offend locals. Therefore, if you choose to wear these clothes for comfort, please make sure to wear something over them.
