The Nagarjun hike is a popular outdoor activity located 9 km west of Kathmandu valley, behind the Swayambhunath stupa and Balaju water garden. It offers a unique combination of hiking, cycling, rock climbing, and birdwatching, with stunning views of the Kathmandu valley and surrounding mountains.

The term Nagarjun is associated with the Buddhist monk Nagarjuna, who meditated in a cave within the Raniban forest. The area is rich in spirituality and ancient values, providing a peaceful environment with prayer flags, meditation caves, ancient Buddhist stupas, and a lotus lake.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Kathmandu to Jamacho Peak (2100 m, 6889 ft), 7-8 hrs

After breakfast we drive to Blaju Fulbari at the entrance points where we get the entrance ticket for the Nagarjun Nationalpark.We start ancient through dense forest of Indians chestnut, pine Rhododendron and needlewoodIt feels great to observe the mountains and valley view from the vintage of trees throughout the journey.Its takes 2: 30 hours to get to the final points of the day hike you collect the amazing hike experiences with in the short period of time.The trail continue to tha Jmaso that highest points of the Nagarjun hike and our final destination. The surrounding areas of the jamso is decorated by buddhist faltering prayers flags seems like spreading peace all over the world.After short but tailor made hike finally reach at the top where we going to spend time for lunch and explore surrounding then start step back exactly at the beginning points.After incredible day hike we end the journey and dive back for the most deserving night. Note: This hike is not recommended for solo travelers. It is great to travel in a group for your safety.

Weather Information

The best time to visit Nagarjun Jamcho is from September to November or March to May, with daytime temps around 65-80°F (18–27°C) and cooler nights near 50°F (10°C). Autumn offers clear skies and great views, while spring brings warmth and blooming hills. Monsoon (June–Sept) is wet and humid. Winter is dry but chilly, dropping below 40°F (4°C) in higher spots like Nagarkot.
