Trip Overview

Mardi Himal is located in the northern part of Pokhara valley in the Annapurna Conservation Area. It is a newly open trekking trail, is peaceful, relatively easy with a sense view and an incredible natural setting. The Mardi Himal trekking is the ideal destination for trek on the off beaten path trail in side the wooden land. This trek is based on the lower elevations but will take you over that take you over 4,000m in short period of time. While exploring this region, pass the verdant forest, colorful villages, rolling hills, rice paddies along with splendid views of Annapurna, Lamjung and Dhaulagiri.

Even though this trek is short, it creates a small circle up to the Mardi Himal Base Camp where you do not have to follow the same trail to return back. The classical Mardi Himal trek is the great to experiences the authenticity of local food, observe the wild life, mountain landscapes and avoid the crowded trail. Explore the amazing Mardi Himal region to experience the magnificent Himalayan range, biodiversity, varieties of flora/ fauna on this off beaten trail.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Kathmandu (1,300 m/4,264 ft)

After arriving, a representative of Ama Adventure will come to the airport. Furthermore, check in to a hotel and explore your nearby areas.

Day 2: Kathmandu to Pokhara (8,84 m/2,900 ft) by drive: 7-8 hrs

After breakfast, we will travel to Pokhara, which is one of the most beautiful cities in Nepal located in the Annapurna region. Driving to Pokhara can be a little bumpy but reverie a beautiful village, magnificent view and blushing water river will make your travel more wrathful. After a long day of travel, arrive at Pokhara, spend your time exploring the city before heading to Himalayas then overnight.

Day 3: Pokhara to Deurali (2,100 m/6,7,20 ft): 30 m Drive, 4-5 hrs Trek

After breakfast, we will drive to Khande then start ascends to the Australian Camp through oak and Rhododendron forest. Australian Camp is popular to admire sunrise views over the mountains and bird-watching. We continue walk to Pothana for lunch, which is the entrance point for this region. While trekking to Deurali you will pass beautiful lush h forest, amazing layers of landscape, and splendid Mountain View. Finally, we reach Deurali.

Day 4: Deurail to Forest Camp (2,520 m/8,267 ft): 6-7 hrs

We starts ascending through amazing Rhododendron (National flower of Nepal), lush forest admiring biodiversity of this region to the forest camp. The journey to Forest Camp will be inside the forest on peaceful environment that will make your day wrathful. After beautiful hike, finally you will reach to the Forest Camp for overnight stay.

Day 5: Forest Camp to Low Camp (2,970 m/9,504 ft): 5-6 hrs

Trek to Low Camp begins through the stunning rainy forest along the admirable biodiversity of Nepal. While trekking you will admire the view of Mt Machhapuchhre over the valley that makes your journey more enjoyable. After a few hours of gradual climb, reach the Low camp for overnight stay.

Day 6: Low Camp to High Camp (3,540 m/11,328 ft): 3-4 hrs

After breakfast, we start trekking above the thinner tree line and isolated Rhododendron bushes take us to Machhapuchhre and Mardi Himal. We climb entire journey on top of ridge of Seti River Valley and Modi Khola that is the inhabitant of Nepal’s National Bird Pheasant (Danphe). The Low Camp is best to place to see view of Mt Machhapuchhre up close and layers of counter line of natural landscape created by altitude variation. Then, you stay overnight at a tea house.

Day 7: High Camp to Mardi Himal Base Camp, Return to Badal Danda (4250 m/13,600 ft): 6-7 hrs

Today we trek to the upper view points early in the morning to catch the admiring sunrise view over the Himalayas. The trail is narrow and rusty, so you must be carefree while walking. It is a great place to witness the mesmerizing view of Annapurna South (7,219 m), Himchuli (6,441 m), Machhapuchhre (6,993 m), Annapurna I (8,091 m), and Mardi Himal (5,587 m). We step back to High camp for lunch and head back to Bada Danda. After this amazing day, we stay overnight at a teahouse.

Day 8: Badal Danda to Siding (1,750 m/5,024 ft): 6-7 hrs

After breakfast, we continue descending to Siding through the beautiful Rhododendron and lush forest. On the way we will stop at the forest camp for some break, then head to the Siding. It is the first permanent settlement whose entire journey lies on the top of Seti Khola that is inhabited by a mix of ethnic groups. After a long descend, stay overnight at Siding.

Day 9: Siding to Pokhara (884 m/2900 ft): 2 hrs by Drive

After breakfast, we will drive to Pokhara through a beautiful village on the side of a trail, a beautiful forest, amazing view of mountains and green hills. You will reach Pokhara in the afternoon for lunch.

After lunch, spend your day exploring Pokhara’s Lakeside and pamper yourself. After the beautiful day is over, overnight at the hotel.

Day 10: Pokhara to Kathmandu by drive 7-8 hrs

We will travel to Kathmandu. You can rest on your own, catching souvenir shopping and exploring the neighborhood. In the evening, Ama Adventure organizes dinner to celebrate the success of our trip. Stay overnight at Kathmandu.

Day 11: Departure

Today is our final day of our trip. Ama Adventure representative drops you to the airport, wishes you a safe journey and hopes to see you at the next adventure.

Difficulty Level

This trek is suitable for individuals with above-average physical fitness. There is no need for special technical skills, making it accessible to beginners and hikers. However, the trek does reach high altitudes and requires a significant level of physical exertion. Despite hiking for 5 to 10 hours a day, you will gain substantial elevation.

Packing List

Below is a suggested packing list to help you prepare for the Mardi Himal Trek. This is a general guide-you may need extra warm layers depending on the season. Ama Adventure provides each trekker with a 75-liter duffel bag, handed over at the pre-trip briefing in Kathmandu. The duffel bag is yours to keep. Sleeping bags and down jackets are available to rent in Kathmandu for USD 35 each.
