Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu (1,400 m / 4,593 ft)
After arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, an Ama Adventure representative will transfer you to your hotel. After you settle your belongings in the hotel, hop out and explore the local markets, taste some local street food and relax for the day.

Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing (1,400 m / 4,593 ft)
After breakfast, we explore several UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu. Our day starts at Kathmandu Durbar Square, renowned for its historical significance and traditional architecture. Then we proceed to Swayambhunath, known as the Monkey Temple, situated on a hill offering panoramic views. Next, we explore Pashupatinath Temple, a major Hindu shrine located beside the Bagmati River.
After that we head to today’s final destination, the magnificent Bouddhanath Stupa, an important pilgrimage destination along the ancient Tibetan trade route. Take a moment to observe this spiritual hub for Tibetan Buddhists- the stupa encircled by prayer wheels and fluttering prayer flags, monks in prayer, lighting butter lamps, and witness the evening kora here.

Day 3: Sightseeing around Pharping, Dakshinkali, Patan Durbar Square
Drive south toward the ancient village of Pharping, a sacred Buddhist site nestled among peaceful hills. Visit the Gorakhnath Cave, where Padmasambhava is said to have meditated. Continue to the Dakshinkali Temple, dedicated to the fierce goddess Kali, where locals still offer traditional animal sacrifices. Return via Patan Durbar Square, an architectural gem filled with stone temples, ornate windows, and Newari culture. Watch artisans carve statues and cast bells using age-old methods.

Day 4: Morning visit to Boudhanath, sightseeing around Changunarayan Temple, drive to Nagarkot (2,195 m / 7,201 ft): 6-7 hrs
Begin the morning with a visit to Boudhanath Stupa, spinning prayer wheels as pilgrims circle clockwise with devotion. Then head to Changunarayan, Nepal’s oldest known temple perched on a quiet ridge, rich in history and surrounded by lovely countryside. Afterward, ascend to Nagarkot, a peaceful hill station known for its Himalayan panorama. Arrive by sunset, just in time for golden mountain views.

Day 5: Sunrise from Nagarkot, explore Bhaktapur Durbar Square : 6 hrs
Wake early to catch a magical sunrise over the Himalayas, lighting up peaks like Langtang, Dorje Lakpa, and even distant Everest on clear days. After breakfast, descend to the medieval city of Bhaktapur, famed for its well-preserved temples, courtyards, pottery squares, and rich Newar heritage. Explore highlights such as Nyatapola Temple, the 55-Window Palace, and the golden gate before heading back to Kathmandu. Enjoy a farewell dinner in the evening.

We guarantee all group departure dates even if there’s only one person signed up for the Explore Kathmandu. This ensures that your adventure is confirmed regardless of group size.
Difficulty Level
This trip is easy and designed for travelers of all fitness levels. Light walking and sightseeing are included, and no prior trekking or hiking experience is required. Bring comfortable walking shoes and stay hydrated during the day.
Meals
Throughout our trek, you’ll savor authentic Nepalese dishes alongside international cuisines such as Tibetan, Continental, Italian, and Indian. Breakfast and dinner will be served at the tea houses or lodge menus where we stay overnight, while lunches will be provided en route to our next destination. During the trek, all meals are included. In Kathmandu, Nagarkot, breakfast is provided, and farewell dinner will be arranged for our guests on the final night in Kathmandu.
Accommodation
We’ll be accommodated at Hotel Manaslu in Kathmandu, and the best available 3-star hotel in Nagarkot during our trip. Accommodations are based on twin sharing. For those requesting a single room, there will be an additional cost of USD 100 and are available in Kathmandu, but it might be a little difficult in higher elevations
Weather Information
Daytime temperatures here are usually 25°C in March and May depending on the season. From September to December, the temperature cools down to 20°C, and in December to February, it is warmer during the day and colder at night, from 4°C to 22°C. Winter is dry but chilly, dropping below 4°C (40°F) in higher spots like Nagarkot.
