Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400 m / 4,593 ft)

Welcome to Nepal! Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, a representative from Ama Adventure will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. After settling in, you’ll meet your guide for a short briefing about the upcoming adventure. If time permits, enjoy a stroll through Thamel’s lively streets.

Day 2: Swayambhunath tour and trip preparation

After breakfast, you will head towards Swayambhunath Stupa, also known as the Monkey Temple. Perched atop a hill overlooking the Kathmandu Valley, this ancient stupa is one of the most iconic landmarks of Nepal. Believed to have been self-created, it holds deep spiritual significance for both Buddhists and Hindus. From the top, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the valley, surrounded by prayer flags, shrines, and playful monkeys that give the site its nickname.

Day 3: Fly to Lukla, Trek to Phakding (2,610 m / 8,563 ft): 3-4 hrs

After an early breakfast, take a scenic flight to Lukla, your gateway to the Everest region. Once there, meet your porters and begin your first day of trekking through pine forests and across suspension bridges to reach Phakding.

Day 4: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,438 m / 11,280 ft): 6-7 hrs

Today’s trek follows the Dudh Koshi River and crosses several suspension bridges, including the iconic Hillary Bridge. The climb to Namche is steep but rewarding, offering your first glimpse of Everest on a clear day. Namche is the bustling heart of the Khumbu region.

Day 5: Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar (3,438 m / 11,280 ft)

To help your body adjust to the altitude, enjoy a relaxed acclimatization day. Hike to the Everest View Hotel for panoramic mountain views, and visit the local Sherpa museum. The rest of the day is free to explore Namche’s bakeries, markets, and mountain shops.

Day 6: Trek to Pangboche (3,930 m / 12,894 ft): 6-7 hrs

Continue along a winding path high above the Dudh Koshi. After visiting the famous Tengboche Monastery, surrounded by towering peaks, descend through forest and climb gently to Pangboche, a charming village beneath the mighty Ama Dablam.

Day 7: Trek to Dingboche (4,410 m / 14,468 ft): 5-6 hrs

Leave the treeline behind as you trek into alpine terrain. The trail opens up to expansive views of glacial valleys and wind-swept ridges. Dingboche, nestled in the Imja Valley, offers a peaceful setting with stone-walled fields and distant snow-capped peaks.

Day 8: Acclimatization Hike to Nangkartshang Peak (5,083 m / 16,676 ft): 3-4 hrs

Take a gradual uphill hike to Nangkartshang Peak for an epic panorama of Makalu, Lhotse, and Island Peak. This acclimatization hike strengthens your lungs and legs before the higher elevations to come.

Day 9: Trek to Lobuche (4,940 m / 16,207 ft): 5-6 hrs

Trek past Dughla and the poignant memorials dedicated to climbers who lost their lives on Everest. Continue along a rocky moraine to reach the windswept village of Lobuche, surrounded by jagged peaks and glaciers.

Day 10: Trek to Gorak Shep and Everest Base Camp (5,364 m / 17,598 ft): 7-8 hrs

Today’s the big day. Walk along the glacial moraine to reach Gorak Shep, then continue to the legendary Everest Base Camp. Stand beneath the Khumbu Icefall and take in the sheer scale of the world’s highest mountain.

Day 11: Hike to Kala Patthar and Trek to Pheriche (4,371 m / 14,340 ft): 7-8 hrs

Climb to Kala Patthar at dawn for a golden sunrise over Everest, then descend through Lobuche to the riverside village of Pheriche. The air thickens slightly as you return to lower altitude.

Important Notes

You will receive a free duffel bag and baseball cap during your pre-trip meeting in Kathmandu. The duffel bag will be used to pack your trekking supplies.

1 porter for every 2 participants. The duffel bag (weighing 10kg/22lbs) will be carried by the porter during the trek.

You’ll need your own daypack (with a waterproof cover) for daily necessities such as cash, important documents, a water bottle, camera, toiletries, and sunscreen.

Storage available in Kathmandu: Non-trekking luggage can be stored at the hotel.

Luggage allowance for Kathmandu-Lukla flight: 15kg/33lbs (includes duffel 10kg/22lbs and backpack 5kg/11lbs).

Down jacket with a hood is a must for altitudes above 4,000m for warmth (Rental available for USD 35).

4-season sleeping bag is also essential for cold nights (Rental available for USD 35).

Note: Some clothing, especially form-fitting items made of elastic material (like yoga pants), may offend locals. If you choose to wear these clothes for comfort, make sure to wear something over them.

We guarantee all group departure dates even if there’s only one person signed up for the Everest Base Camp Deluxe Journey. This ensures that your adventure is confirmed regardless of group size.

Difficulty Level

This trek is physically demanding, reaching altitudes above 5,500 meters, so good fitness is essential. Preparing with regular cardio, hiking, and strength training will make the journey easier. Altitude sickness can affect anyone, so pacing yourself, staying hydrated, and listening to your body are crucial. Our experienced guides will monitor your health and ensure safety throughout the trek.

Meals

Throughout the trek, you’ll enjoy authentic Nepalese meals along with some popular international dishes, including Tibetan, Continental, and Indian flavors. Breakfast and dinner are served at your hotels and lodges, while lunches are usually provided during the trekking days. On your final night in Kathmandu, a special farewell dinner will celebrate your journey.

Accommodation

You’ll stay in comfortable lodges and tea houses throughout the trek, selected to offer the best combination of comfort and local hospitality. In Kathmandu, enjoy the luxury of a 5-star hotel with modern amenities. All accommodations are based on twin sharing, with single rooms available upon request for an additional cost of USD 100 in Kathmandu.

Weather Information

Daytime temperatures during the trekking season typically range between 10°C and 20°C, depending on altitude and time of year. February to June and September to December offer clear skies and mild eather, with chilly mornings and evenings. Above 4,000 meters, expect colder conditions, especially at night, so layered clothing is essential.
