Chandragiri has become one of the most sought-after hikes for people worldwide, especially those with limited time. Its popularity soared with the recent development of cable cars, transforming it into a hill station replete with resorts, eateries, temples, and a perfect escape from urban life. This hike, known as a “couple hike,” offers a relatively easy trail, providing respite for individuals juggling professional and personal commitments.
Starting from the hilltop of Chandragiri at 2551 meters above sea level, the hike gradually winds through moderately challenging trails, eventually reaching Champadevi at 2278 meters. Descending via regular stairs leads to the picturesque Champadevi, concluding at Puspalal Park in Machhegaun. Throughout the journey, hikers are treated to panoramic views of Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Gaurishanker, Jugal Himal, and the breathtaking Kathmandu valley. The hike also offers bird’s-eye views of Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur, as well as historical sites like Khokana and Pharping.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Kathmandu to Chandragiri (2551m, 8369ft), 7 - 8 hrs
After breakfast we drive to Thankot at the Chandragiri entrance gate and ride the cable car. It takes 9m to reach the top.In Chandragiri hill we visit Bageshwari temple, enjoy the surrounding view then continue our hike.The trail is comparatively easy but much to observe and experience within a few hours.Through out the journey you get to enjoy mesmerizing view of Manasulu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Dorje Lakhpa, Jugal Himal, Gaurisankar along with Kathmandu and Makawanpur and others places.Carry enough water and trail scanks there is not any shops before Machhegaun.During your Hike you will encounter with varieties of flora fauna and visit Hindu temple such as the champa devi and machenaryan Temple. We end hour amazing day hike in Machhegaun and drive back to home.

Weather Information
The best time to visit Chandragiri Champa Devi is from September to November or March to May, with daytime temps around 65-80°F (18-27°C) and cooler nights near 50°F (10°C). Autumn offers clear skies and great views, while spring brings warmth and blooming hills. Monsoon (June-Sept) is wet and humid. Winter is dry but chilly, dropping below 40°F (4°C) in higher spots like Nagarkot.
