Lower Mustang Road Trip – 9 Days Brief Insight

Take a 10-day trip to Jomsom Muktinath and spike up your adrenaline when you hit off the road. Jomsom Muktinath is located in Lower Mustang, surrounded by Mt. Annapurna and Mt. Dhaulagiri. Your road trip will take you on a journey through narrow gorge roads in the region bordering Annapurna and Mustang.

Mustang is part of the ancient trade route to Tibet, up the Kali Gandaki river. Traveling in Mustang is an enriching experience, with road trips gaining great popularity. Cycling is also becoming popular, offering a splendid mountain experience.

Lower Mustang is well developed and offers one of the most comfortable trails with teahouses run by Gurung and Thakali families. A week-long stay in Nepal provides the opportunity to explore Nepal’s biggest apple farm, taste Thakali food, and experience peace of mind, soul, and spiritual happiness.

Lower Mustang features a deep valley and steep mountains surrounding the giant Annapurna Himal, embracing a wide range of landscapes from subtropical jungle to the high-altitude desert of the Tibetan plateau. In addition to the scenery, this is a pilgrimage route for Hindus and Buddhists, with stops at villages like Marpha, Jomsom, Kagbeni, and Muktinath, where you will meet many ethnic groups. Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 Kathmandu (1300m/4264ft)

After arriving at the airport we will be welcomed by a representative of Ama Adventure. Furthermore, check into a hotel and explore the surrounding neighborhoods.

Day 2: Kathmandu valley Sightseen

After Breakfast, we toured Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), the Hindu pilgrim site Pashupatinath Temple, and Boudhanath, which are the world’s Heritage sites. Moreover, Swayambhunath is known as the self-created stupa, Pashupatinath Temple is one of the most popular pilgrimage sites for Hindus, and Boudhanath stupa is known as one of the largest stupas in the world.

Day 3 Kathmandu to Pokhara ( 8,84m/2,900ft): 6 - 7 Hours

Today we travel to Pokhra which is considered the most beautiful lake city in Nepal. The ride can be bumpy at some points but it is worth the amazing view throughout the journey. Prepare yourself to be in the car for 6 to 7 hours before reaching the destination. After a long day travel experience the first night in the countryside.

Day 4: Pokhara to Tatopani (1,190m): 4 Hours

After a short break, we begin our journey to Tatopani. The five-hour drive passes through the villages of Beni, Khusma, and other popular settlements in the Annapurna region. A quick lunch is served at Beni. In some places, the pitch road gradually changes to a narrow twisting gravel road after Beni. We at long last shown up at Tatopani subsequent to driving 20km from Beni. Use whatever is left of the day enjoying the regular underground aquifer pool on the banks of the Kalighadaki River. After, it continues to drive to Tatopani, which will be a welcomed luxury for tired legs, Overnight in Tatopani.

Day 5: Tatopani to Jomsom (2,743m/ 8,229ft) : 5 Hours

On the fourth day of our journey, we continue to follow the road along the bank of Kali Gandaki that leads all the way to Jomsom. On your drive from Tatopani to Jomsom, the backdrop of Mt. Annapurna and Dhaulagiri will bring you closer to nature. You will also cross the World’s deepest gorge on your way.

Day 6: Jomsom to Muktinath- Head Back to Marpha (3800m/11,400ft): 4 Hours

In the early morning, we drive to Muktinath through beautiful mountains villages Kagbeni. The road is extremely beautiful with amazing mountains scenery and mesmerizing landscape. From the bus stop points, you have to walk for a few minutes to reach the temple, which is located at 3800m above sea level. You spend time at Muktinath Temple for worship visit the surroundings and collect some beautiful photos. Investigate the principal spiritual place, the cloisters and Jwala Mai fire sanctuary where there is a steady consuming fire. Heading back to Marpha in the early evening. Use the remainder of your time at the Marpha apple ranch and the town. Remain for the time being.

Day 7: Marpha to Pokhara (2,650m): 6 Hours

We are almost end of the Kathmandu Muktinath Road Trip. Now conclude the trip by driving back to Pokhara. We return back from Marpha by the same road leaving the beautiful mountains behind with tailor-made memories. Finally, return to Pokhara overnight.

Day 8: Pokhara to Kathmandu ( 7 to 8 Hours)

After breakfast, we traveled to Kathmandu. You can rest on your own, catching souvenir shopping and exploring the neighborhood. In the evening Ama Adventure organized dinner to celebrate the success of our trip and overnight at Kathmandu.

Day 9: Departure

Today is the final day of our trip. The Ama Adventure representative drops you at the airport, wishes you a safe journey, and hopes to see you at the next adventure.
