Balthali is a typical village located 40 km east of Kathmandu. It is a great destination to experience delightful historical, natural, and rural life near the capital. On the way, you will explore an ancient Hindu temple that is more than 800 years old and lies on a popular cemetery river. Panauti is a well-preserved prominent Newari village in Nepal, where the community still maintains the typical local Newari culture.
While traveling, you will have the chance to observe historical places and beautiful views of mountains and landscapes. During the exploration, we cross numerous suspension bridges over stunning rivers and streams. Exploring this area offers a handful of amazing experiences and a break from the bustling city. Day 1: Drive to Panauti- Trek to Balthali villages: 2 hrs
After breakfast, we drive to Panauti, a prominent ancient town located north of Kathmandu Valley. We take a short break at Panauti to fix the luggage and explore the surrounding areas. The trek to Baithali offers an amazing landscape with paddy fields, numerous suspension bridges, and peaceful rivers. We continue walking past Nepal’s oldest hydroelectric project. Along the way, we have the opportunity to visit the villages of holy men and many other historical monuments. Finally, we reach the spectacular Balthali, where you will be welcomed with drinks and light snacks.

Day 2: Baithali to Namobuddha (1,750 m): 6-7 hrs
After breakfast, we will explore Balthali village, inhabited by a diverse ethnic community of Danda Gaun. Baithali and the surrounding communities are far from the modern world, where one can still experience real rural life. In Baithali, people and animals live side by side. It’s heartwarming to witness the strong bond between humans and their cattle. We will continue to explore Pada Gaun, located at 2,100m above sea level. The area offers spectacular views of massive mountain clusters and the Mahabharat range to the south. After visiting the village, we continue our trek to Namobuddha. According to Buddhist mythology, the ancient Buddha was born here as a prince of Nepal. We’ll explore the surrounding areas and capture the best photos of the day.

Day 3: Namobuddha to Dhulikhel: 5-6 hrs- Drive to Kathmandu
Before breakfast, you may join the chanting at the monastery and enjoy the sunrise view over the Himalayas. After breakfast, we start our trek to Dhulikhel, passing through Tamang villages, amazing mountain views, and subtropical forests on our way to Kamve Bhanjyang. After a few hours of walking, we reach the highway. At first, we walk along the road, then hike up to the Dhulikhel viewpoints, which are popular destinations for domestic travelers. We continue descending to Dhulikhel, where you can see the huge Buddha Statue along the trail. This marks the final point of our trek before driving back to Kathmandu for an overnight stay.

Trip Departure
We book both solo and group travel to provide amazing experiences with people from all over the world. Before departure, we reconfirm the number of clients in your group before signing up for the trek. Once a person signs up for the expedition, we guarantee all group departure dates, even if there is only a single participant.
Difficulty Level
This trek is suitable for people with above-average physical fitness. There is no requirement for special technical skills, so beginner hikers can also enjoy this trek.
Meals
Throughout our trek, you’ll savor authentic Nepalese dishes alongside international cuisines such as Tibetan, Continental, Italian, and Indian. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served at the hotels in Balthali and Namobuddha where we stay overnight, while lunches will be provided en route to our next destination. During the trek, all meals are included. In Kathmandu, farewell dinner will be arranged for our guests.
Lodging
We’ll be accommodated at Standard Hotel in Kathmandu and the best available hotels in Balthali and Namobuddha. Accommodations are based on twin sharing. For those requesting a single room, there will be an additional cost of USD 150. While we aim for rooms with attached washrooms, please note that some tea houses may only have shared washing and toilet facilities. Single rooms are readily available in Kathmandu, and lower-elevation trekking areas, but availability might be limited at higher elevations.
