Nepal is open for International Travelers - Latest Update

Today (Sept 24, 2021) onwards, Nepal Government opens the border for international travelers. Now, those who travel to Nepal via air should not stay in Quarantine. They are also free from different travel related restrictions. Covid - 19 vaccination program brings lots of positivity in the tourism industry. The condition seems normal these days. But traveling from a few countries is still restricted.
 
Despite being free from travel restrictions you must follow some travel protocols. Here are things that you should know before traveling to Nepal.
 
- Quarantine is not mandatory, but travelers must be completely vaccinated 14 days before they travel to Nepal.
- Following documents should be submitted at the immigration for an on arrival visa.
  • 1. Covid - 19 Vacation Certificate.
  • 2. RT - PCR negative test certificate issued within 72 hours from first flight.
  • 3. Hotel booking receipt.

- There is no on-arrival visa provision for non-vaccinated travelers. They must have prior visas from Nepalese Diplomatic Missions in their respective countries.
- Non-vaccinated visitors need to stay 10 days in quarantine at their own cost in the hotels designated by Nepal Government.
- Non-vaccinated visitors need to submit all the documents specified in no.2(expect vaccination certificate), plus proof of quarantine hotel booking upon arrival.
- All visitors should have a rapid antigen test while arriving at the airport. If antigen tests are positive they should be in quarantine at the hospitals or isolation centers designated by Nepal Government.
 
Even Though there are some travel restrictions if there is any country in the world where social distancing is not the problem; it would be Nepal. About  95% of the frontline tourism workers and professionals have been fully vaccinated.
 
According to government data, more than 19% of the total population has been fully vaccinated and more than 21% has already received their first dose. About 97% of the total population of Khumbu and Mustang has been fully vaccinated.
 
Therefore, traveling in Nepal is gradually being hassle-free and Nepal is ready to host the trekking. Likewise, the restart of traveling will help to recover the entire tourism industry.
